GDRN & Magnús Jóhann in concert
19/08 2025Singer GDRN and keyboardist Magnús Jóhann have performed together extensively in recent years, both as a duo and with a band. The two will perform at Gljúfrasteinn on Sunday, August 24th, at 4 PM, where their repertoire will include works by Icelandic composer Magnús Á. Árnason (1894–1980) to poetry by Halldór Laxness.
Guðrún Ýr Eyfjörð, known as GDRN, is an Icelandic singer and actress. Born in Reykjavík in 1996, she studied classical violin and later jazz piano and singing. She has had a successful career in music since 2017, taking home four awards at the 2018 Icelandic Music Awards – including as pop singer of the year – and being nominated for the Nordic Music Prize that same year. Her genre could be described as jazz-influenced pop. GDRN has released three successful solo albums and one album in collaboration with Magnús Jóhann.
Magnús Jóhann is an Icelandic composer, producer and keyboardist. Despite his young age, he has explored a wide array of styles – introspective jazz, timeless popular songs, dissonant string scores and oddball electronics, to name but a few – across hundreds of recordings: solo work, scores for film and theatre, as a session player and a record producer. He has released nine albums both solo and in collaboration with singer GDRN and jazz legends Skúli Sverrisson and Óskar Guðjónsson.
